Nature's Pencil: Gallery: Sudbury Hall
Sudbury is a pretty village just off the A50 between Stoke and Derby, and its fine hall is excellent picture postcard or chocolate box material. I had passed through the village dozens of times before a blue sky full of picturesque clouds tempted me to stop. I wanted to show the hall in its setting, including the lawn and retaining wall, and also to hint that it fronts onto the public road, so it took some time to find a viewpoint that achieved both aims and kept a pleasing balance. Having found a suitable view it just remained to wait for the clouds to arrange themselves.
